Quirk Auto Dealers and Quirk Ford have teamed up to donate a brand new, state-of-the-art Ford Transit, light commercial van to Save A Dog, Inc., a local humane society and animal shelter dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs. Save A Dog plans to use the new Ford Transit for all of their volunteer work and their Meals-on-Wheels-for-Pets program that provides dog food for pet owners who cannot afford it.

Save A Dog, of Sudbury, Massachusetts is dedicated to finding permanent and loving homes for homeless and abandoned dogs. In addition to the important work they do in the local community, Save A Dog partners with other humane societies in rural parts the country where over population has become an issue. Save A Dog plans to use the new, 2016 Ford Transit for their rescue, volunteer, foster and Meals-on-Wheels-for-Pets programs.

“Our old Save A Dog Van was not able to pass the sticker inspection,” said Shirley Moore, Founder and President of Save A Dog. “We have been raising funds to purchase a new van for a number of months and we were almost there but we came up short. Mr. Quirk bridged the gap so that we could have a new van and continue our work of saving lives. I’m very grateful to the Quirk family for their extreme generosity.”P1210359

This is the latest example of Quirk Auto Dealers and Quirk Ford’s commitment to building partnerships with non-profit and volunteer-based organizations in all of the communities in which we live and work across New England.

“This is a great opportunity for us to give back to the community and partner with a local organization that’s doing really great work,” said Daniel J. Quirk. “It’s a great van that we hope will bring them many years of service.”

Save A Dog, Inc.

sadlogo-twitter_400x400Save A Dog, Inc. is a Massachusetts-based humane society whose focus is abandoned dogs. We take in local dogs of all breeds, sizes, and shapes that have become homeless for one reason or another. We work with animal shelters in MA as well as out of state. With over 8.6 million pets being euthanized each year, we try to maximize the number of dogs we can save at once, so we work with several high volume shelters and humane societies in rural parts of the south and in WV where dogs die in large numbers. Save A Dog incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit in 1999 and became the first dog rescue group in the Boston Metrowest area to bring in dogs from states that have an over-population problem. Save A Dog has used foster homes and now have a shelter in which to house and show our rescued dogs. We try to make the best match for applicant and dog. We developed a health protocol and quarantined our dogs long before it was state-mandated. If you would like to meet a rescued dog, fill out an application for adoption, or find out about one of our local meet and greet events, please visit www.saveadog.org for more information.
