The Unexpected Kia
Let’s just take a second and truly bask in what we are about to talk about, let us truly understand what has been done! When Kia announced the 2018 Stinger, they promised every car enthusiasts dream! This dream includes a Twin Turbo V6, the choice of AWD or RWD (no FWD in this Kia) and the best part… a factory warranty. This car gives every car enthusiast an excuse to buy a cool car, and still have the practicality of a full sized rear seat and trunk.
I have to admit, I really like this car. One of the major reasons why I like this car is the front end, with its aggressive contouring and plethora of vents, this thing is gorgeous. Unlike a lot of modern cars, every single grill and duct has a purpose. This does leave me with one question for Kia, why are the hood vents fake? Granted they do add a nice touch to the otherwise unrevealing hood.
This brings me to the next point, which is the shear sleeper appearance of the car. For those who don’t know, a sleeper is a car with rather common appearance but packs a punch in the performance category. Although it is aggressive, it could be mistaken for a Kia Optima to the untrained eye. This is a similar issue that Chevy had with the SS and the Malibu
The final exterior part that I cannot leave without mention is the rear of the car. The first time I got to look at one, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the trunk (or should I say hatch). Kia managed to make a hatchback look like a sedan, and managed to do it well. I am also just as in love with the rear bumper, I mean the thing has rear vents as well. It’s all these subtle little features that really add up to the overall gorgeous and aggressive appearance of the Kia Stinger.
Kia did a very nice job and keep the interior up to the standards of the exterior. They used extremely nice quality materials and the design team deserves a raise in my opinion. The instrument panel and steering wheel, although nothing special, are extremely nice to hold and use. The display and radio panel is where the magic happens. The display seems to melt into the dash and the air vents feel like something you would find in a Ferrari F430 rather than a Kia. Depending on the options, you are also created with a quality speaker setup and the grills they used are very pleasing to the eye.
Now the Kia Stinger is great in the looks department, but does it have the power to match? The Stinger does, in fact it is what makes this car so awesome. Kia gave us a few options, and none of them are lame. You have the option between 2.0 Turbo I4 which is capable of producing 255 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque. Or you can select the Twin Turbo 3.3L V6 with 365 HP and 376 lb-ft of torque. The best part, you can pick between either RWD or AWD with any engine option. To make the deal even sweeter, Kia has put up some comparisons, and lets just say that the Kia Stinger crushed the competition way out of its class!.
So if I haven’t sold you on how amazing this car is, you might need to come test drive one. Almost every car blogger online has fallen in love with this car and I understand why. Good Job Kia!
